Dr. Juliet Ongwae Appointed to the Board of Directors of the Fintech Association of Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya – May 20, 2024 – The Fintech Association of Kenya (FINTAK) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Juliet Ongwae as a Board Director, effective May 20, 2024. Dr. Juliet brings over 20 years of experience in the digital financial services (DFS) sector and is renowned for her work in spearheading digital transformation initiatives across Sub-Saharan Africa and South-East Asia.

Currently serving as the Senior SupTech Specialist at the Cambridge SupTech Lab, University of Cambridge, Dr. Juliet has a rich experience of working with government entities and financial institutions to develop and deploy innovative digital payment systems. Her extensive background includes significant roles at MicroSave Consulting and Musoni Microfinance, as well as over a decade at the Central Bank of Kenya, where she played a crucial role in modernizing payment systems and drafting key policies and regulations.

Dr. Juliet holds a PhD from the University of Manchester and has been instrumental in leveraging technology to enhance regulatory compliance and financial supervision through her expertise in policy design, DFS strategy development, product innovation, and data analytics.

In her new role at FINTAK, Dr. Juliet will lead the SupTech/RegTech Committee, guiding the fintech community towards more innovative and efficient regulatory practices. Her appointment supports FINTAK's commitment to advancing Kenya's fintech sector by harnessing the potential of technology to create a more inclusive financial ecosystem.
